glamorous

so I figured since god blessed me with a passion for making people beautiful, I would share some not-so secrets of the Esthetics world

-when washing your face, if you refuse to follow the twice a day rule, it is better to skip the before bed wash than the morning wash... but i suggest twice day!

-you cannot change the size of your pores. your pores are your pores, big, small, or barely visible. Thats just the way it is.

-tanning or sun exposure does in fact help to clear up your acne.. of course I recommend using a proper home care regime as well as getting regular facials from your Esthetician.

-tanned fat looks better than pale fat

-always wash, exfoliate, and apply lotion in a circular motion. this helps to ensure full cleansing as you get in and under the hair follicles, and full even coverage

-everything is going to slap us in the face at the same time, menopause, fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, and brittle nails... so just because 'you dont have it yet' doesn't mean you should wait till you start seeing the signs. It's never too early to take care of yourself!

-a little bit of water and an angle brush can turn any eye shadow into eyeliner...mascara works too...

-always apply eye makeup from the outer corner in... avoid bringing bacteria into the eye.

-wear two colours of eye shadow... dark from outer corner in just a tad further than the center and then a lighter colour from the inner corner out.. let the over lap and bit and blend evenly.. takes only a few minutes and makes you look like you really know what you're doing

-if you're not a regular sunscreen wearer, mix some sunscreen into your day cream. You're putting on the cream anyway and now you'll get that protection you need!

-if you're not going to use a toner you might as well not wash your face... not literally that bad but toner is an ESSENTIAL part of cleansing your face.

-if you don't own a dry shampoo and you feel like your hair is looking a little greasy, wash your hands, dry thoroughly and sprinkle some baby powder into your hands. rub your hands together slightly and then run through your hair starting at the root. The powder will help absorb the excess oil.

-spraying an almond oil or speed dry spray on wet toenails, wrapping them in saran wrap and then slipping on your socks is a great way to ensure your polish doesn't get wrecked. But be sure to slip off your socks and the plastic when you get home because it needs oxygen to set.

-never try to peel or bite off your gel nails. You will do a lot of damage to the nail plate, including but not limited to cracking the nail plate in multiple places and peeling off layers of the plate.

-continuous waxing without shaving in between will lead to less coarse hair, and less regrowth.

-more hair does not grow back when you start waxing.. you simply notice the hair more as you have now seen what that area looks like completely bare.

-eyeshadow makes a great brow filler. use an angle brush and a med brown colour and apply from the outer end inwards. Adding colour to fair or blonde brows makes a quick, easy, and positively noticed change to your face!

-if you are a blonde, naturally or chemically made, use purple shampoo. It will change your life.

-don't be afraid of colour! Try on that turquoise eye shadow you've been staring at for 2 months. You never find a look unless you try it.

-your boyfriend does notice when you need a pedicure. Apply some lotion before you get into bed and concentrate on those heels if you haven't had a meeting with your Esthetician lately.

-cut your toenails after you have had a bath or shower. Cutting them when they are too dry can cause cracking or chipping in the nail. Plus it hurts!

-the car mirror is the best place to tell if you need a lip wax

-when applying your eye shadow, if some falls down onto your cheek brush it lightly off with a powder brush, rather than wiping it off with your hand. The heat and moisture from your hand smears the makeup and usually causes you to have to wash off your foundation.

-when covering up acne with concealer, make sure the acne is recently hydrated with a lotion. A dry patch rejects the concealer and leaves you looking flaky. This goes for a full foundation application as well... if you find you have 'dry' skin, mix your liquid foundation with your day cream and apply together.

-if your skin is flaky it is dehydrated, not dry. Dry means you are lacking oil not water.

-always clean your brushes, even in a little bit of water and alcohol if you don't have a brush cleaner. Using dirty brushes often can be the cause of break outs.

-don't wear perfume tanning, perfume is highly photosensitive and over time can cause dark spots on your skin.

-botox can be used to minimize sweating if applied to over exerting sweat glands.

-never use a wash cloth more than once. It just harbors the bacteria and not to mention gives it the perfect environment to grow in. You can buy like 50 packs of washcloths at walmart for a few bucks.

Here is a little help from Women's Health on why you're breaking out where you're breaking out. This is what you learn in skin care classes as well!

Zones 1 & 3
Left and right side of forehead: Traditionally, this zone is regarded as the "sister" to the bladder and digestive system. If you breakout frequently in this area, it might mean that you need to improve your elimination by drinking more water and eating more "whole" foods.
Zone 2
Between the eyebrows: The middle of the forehead, between the eyebrows, is related to the liver. Congestion in this zone can indicate over consumption of alcohol, rich foods, and possibly a food allergy (such as lactose intolerance).
Zones 4 & 10
Left and right ear: The ears are a highly sensitive area related to the kidneys. If you notice that your ears are very hot, you might be stressing them out – drink plenty of plain water and cut down on caffeine and alcohol.
Zones 5 & 9
Left and right cheek: The cheeks often give an accurate glimpse into any respiratory distress. Smokers or people suffering from allergies generally experience fine, broken capillaries or congestion in this area.
Zones 6 & 8
Left and right eye area: The eyes are truly a window to the body's health because they're related to the kidneys. Dark circles, while often hereditary, are made worse by dehydration and poor elimination.
Zone 7
Nose and upper lip: A reddened nose can indicate heightened blood pressure, or the early stages of rosacea. Congestion around the upper lip can occur if you use comedogenic lipsticks or liners.
Zones 11 & 13
Left and right side of chin: Look and feel for undersurface congestion and breakouts. Undersurface congestion can be due to insufficient cleansing all the way down to the jaw-line, leaving make-up and cleanser residue. If there are breakouts along the jawbone near the ear, check if you’re having problems with your back teeth (wisdom), or have had recent dental surgery or x-rays.
Zone 12
Breakouts or unusual hair growth can indicate hormonal imbalance, possibly caused by extreme stress. Premenstrual breakouts are also very common on the chin.
Zone 14
Neck: Don't forget to include your neck in your treatment regimen – the skin on your neck is just as fragile as that on your face, so it definitely needs the benefits of moisturizer and sun protection
